My last post contained a couple of charts, so in keeping with this theme, I’ve decided to post another couple of interesting charts on honey producing colonies and honey production. The two charts below show honey production and the number of honey producing colonies in the United States over a twenty-year period beginning in 1987. It’s interesting to compare the sharp declines in both honey producing colonies and the subsequent decline in honey production as new diseases and pests became endemic.
Some important dates to keep in mind:
1. Often mislabeled in older literature as Varroa jacobsoni.
